Promoted by the American Kennel Club, DogNY is a public art initiative whose goal is to raise financial resources for professional and volunteer Canine Search and Rescue organizations throughout The United States of America.

In August 2002, New York City hosted a public exhibition of individually painted Search and Rescue Dog sculptures honoring the search dogs who worked tirelessly recovering victims from the events of September 11.

Each sculpture was sponsored by a patron and painted by an independent artist. Sculptures were displayed throughout the streets of Manhattan for an approximate period of three months. Following the exhibition, DOGNY sculptures were auctioned off at Sotheby's in further support of American Search and Rescue Dog organizations.
